Our very first coffees from Nepal! (check out the honey process from the same producers and the washed as well).

We are always so excited to release new coffees, but releasing an origin that has never been on our menu is always special.

Coffee in Nepal is still young, only about 20 years old. The country produces very little coffee, and more than half is consumed locally. Specialty coffee occupies a very tiny part of the entire production; Tenzing, the leader of the group, wants to change that.
Tenzing went to school in the United States and was introduced to specialty coffee while studying. When he came back home, he wanted to re-orient his family's coffee production and make specialty.

From fermentation experiments to yeast inoculations, Tenzing’s curiosity keeps on raising the bar in Nepal year over year. He’s sharing his knowledge with neighbours, and with smallholders in the eastern Hampang District, which we also bought from.

This is a wild one, and to make sure we kept al the funkiness, we did a roast that is quite light for our standards.

We try to figure out what the sweetness reminded us of as we like to put fancy notes on our bags ;-).
But in this case, the impression that came back the most while drinking it was good old white sugar.

The fruity side of this coffee was truly all over the place and narrowing it down to just a couple while it felt like a fruit salad was hard. You might experience this coffee differently and that is perfectly fine, but for us at the roastery, we had a lot of papaya, watermelon and blackberry notes.

Taste it and let us know what you thought!
