Our very first coffees from Nepal! (check out the natural process from the same producers and the washed as well).

We are always so excited to release new coffees, but releasing an origin that has never been on our menu is always special.

Coffee in Nepal is still young, only about 20 years old. The country produces very little coffee, and more than half is consumed locally. Specialty coffee occupies a very tiny part of the entire production; Tenzing, the leader of the group, wants to change that.
Tenzing went to school in the United States and was introduced to specialty coffee while studying. When he came back home, he wanted to re-orient his family's coffee production and make specialty.

From fermentation experiments to yeast inoculations, Tenzing’s curiosity keeps on raising the bar in Nepal year over year. He’s sharing his knowledge with neighbours, and with smallholders in the eastern Hampang District, which we also bought from.

Whenever we have 3 processes (washed, honey and natural) from the same place, it often feels like the honey process is a blend of the other two!

In this lot, we had a very nice and juicy acidity reminding us of peach and pomegranate.

The dried fruit notes are quite present, especially cranberries.
The sweetness is fresh and reminded us of raw cane sugar.

This is the most versatile coffee, and our favorite one from the three Nepalese lots we have on the menu.
